II51

Do not admire the Sufi's teachings,
His false cloak deserves to be burned.

The sufi looks sad with the morning dregs of wine,
But just watch how happy he'll be at night!

How good it would be if there were a magic stone,
that would change colours at the touch of a hypocrite.

If you touch the Saki's cup,
your face might become red, purple, or rosy.

Rich men cannot find the Friend.
Only lovers of freedom can understand the suffering of love.

Never mind the mean world, drink up!
Wise men should never worry.

Hafiz: if the Saki is willing to pour another cup,
The Taverner will trade your prayer-rug and cloak for it.
